Energy Management Program

Who knew that by doing so little, you can save so much? Henry County REMC's Energy Management Program puts technology to work so you don't have to! This program is absolutely free and members can earn credits on their bill! Simply click the link below to download a sign-up form and then fill it out and return it to REMC to get started.

How does it work?

The cost of power is higher at certain times of the year. Electricity is even more expensive during specific hours of those days. When you participate in our Energy Management Program, you can help REMC reduce demand for power at these critical times. This saves money on REMC's wholesale power costs, which is reflected in your electricity rates.

REMC will install a device on the member's water heater and/or cooling unit - free of charge. When electricity use is at its peak during the winter and summer months, REMC will send a signal to the device to power down the unit(s) for a short time. You won't feel a thing!

So you actually turn off my water heater and air conditioner?

REMC will turn off the heating element in the water heater and the compressor on your cooling unit for only a short time. You'll still have as much hot water in your water heater as it can hold. Your air conditioner fan will still operate, circulating the cool air in the house. The compressor comes on periodicaly to pump in more cool air.

This program reduces demand for electricity during times when the cost is highest (on the coldest days of winter and hottest days of summer). The result is lower power costs, which will be reflected in your electric rates.

Members who participate receive bill credits!

Members can get an $18 per year bill credit for each appliance under control. The more units under control, the more credits you will receive.
